July 25th, 2016 - Weekly Letter

July 25th, 2016 – Weekly Letter

Woot Woot!

Hey everybody!! 😀

So this week was good, but always a little difficult. If it wasn't, this wouldn't be the mission haha. I think I have a sinus infection and walking around in about 115 degrees with rain doesn't help so Tuesday we stayed inside and only left for one Family Home Evening. Also Monday we had a really good Family Home Evening with the member family, Fam Rosales. That was really good. I gave a district meeting on Wednesday and then Friday we had the multizona with Presidente and Hermana Vásquez. They are so awesome. I love them so much. He received revelation to start a new way to work and it's called El Meson which in English is basically like a hotel. It comes from the parabole of the good samaratine  ????  and it's awesome. It's centered in the members 100%. Read Luke 10 and you can try to make the relations, and if not, I can tell you, but study it good. Afterwards, Hna Vásquez spoke about the Book of Mormon and how much power it has. In Preach My Gospel, it says that the Book of Mormon mixed with the Spirit is the most powerful tool that we have for conversion. That Multizona was sooooo good. This week we worked a ton with members. They are getting more excited to work with us so that's good! Also Adrian didn't go to church yesterday...he knows everything and has such a strong testimony, only he didn't go, so he'll be getting baptized on the 6th of August. We're working so hard with the Members and also with In-Actives and having success. All is good here in La Unión. Always over 100 or raining haha, but we're doing good!!

Also, this Gospel changes lives. I've seen it with my own eyes. I hope you all can treasure this Gospel like how I've learned to. Share it with everyone. It's not just an invitation, it's a responsibility. As a representative of Jesus Christ, I testify that this is His work. He's coming soon and for that, we have to work even harder. I know this is His Church. I know Thomas S, Monson is called of God to be His servant here on the earth at this time. The Priesthood is here in this Church and is really the power of God. The Book of Mormon is true and God answers prayers.

I hope all is good for you all and I'll talk to you all next week! I love you all!

Saluuuuu Pues!

July 18th, 2016 - Weekly Letter - Transfer Week!

July 18th, 2016 – Weekly Letter

Transfer Week!

Oiiiiiiii!! Mando mis saludos de El Salvador! Espero que todos estàn muy muy bien y portandose bien! This week was awesome. We had changes and out of 8 companionships in the zone, 7 had changes. We met a lot of new people. They also took Elder Goodman's area and moved it to a new zone so I'm really sad because he's gringo and awesome and one of my best friends haha.

Also Happy Birthday to Dad and Zac this week! I got a call from Elder Sabey (Spencer Sabey) and turns out that he's the new Assistant to the President so that's cool. He called me and told me that I'm the new District Leader. So I have lots of responsibilities now, but we’re doing good!

We had some awesome lessons with Adrian and he's reading the Book of Mormon. The only thing is that he didn't go to church yesterday. He said he's gonna go this Sunday and then the 30th we're gonna have his baptism! He was the investigator most prepared that I've taught here. Also we talked with his mom and brother too. His dad died of cancer a couple years ago and they have a rough life, but are very happy people. He's the most positive investigator that we have right now. We are working with members and seeing the fruits of our labors. They are giving us references and inviting us to have lessons in their houses and it's so awesome. Yesterday a family asked us to visit them because there are people where they live that need the gospel. So tonight we're gonna have an FHE with them and their neighbors. They live about 30 minutes away by foot haha. And we have to walk there a lot, but I'm willing to do it to save souls. We reactivated 3 Less-actives so that's awesome.

We also had some funny experiences. A little kid probably about 4 or 5 was 100% naked and had a broom and was singing and playing his 'guitar' in his yard. It was probably the funniest thing I've seen here. Also drunk people are funny and fat people too, but mixed, they're awesome. Yesterday a drunk, fat guy was singing to us and dancing and it was hilarious. We are having success and I love the work. It's always hot, but we walk anyways. Also in our district we got a new ZL- Elder Zùñiga de Costa Rica and Hermana Lopez de Guatemala. In the zone there's a sister that just got transferred from San Salvador and she came to the field with me. We were talking and she told me that the other gringos that came with me and were in the CCM with me are training and I'm so happy for them. Wow…the mission changes people. Anyways, we're all good here and working our butts off so that we can baptize! The goal of the ward is to have a full ward and a separate branch by November so we're working so hard. I love the work, my compa, my area, Presidente Vàsquez and the Lord. I hope all is well and I'll talk to you all next week! Have a great week and I love you all!!

Woot Woot!!!

Hello friends and family in all the places of the world. Congrats to Amanda who received her mission call to Australia!!! I'm so excited for her!!!!! The mission is the best thing ever!!!! Also congrats to Zac who gets to be the new Executive Secretary in his ward!! And that Emma got her license. So fun!

This week, not a lot happened, but still it was a great week. Last Sunday, Presidente Lenim and his family brought a teenager who has 13 years, to church and he loved it. (His name is Adrian) Monday we went and met with him and he's gonna get baptized the 30th of July!!! He's literally a miracle. He understands, he went to church again yesterday and he loved it, he's gonna go to young mens and all of that. He's so awesome. The coolest part about his story is that the week before, we visited with Pres Lenim and his family and they were super animated to work hard and they brought someone to church! This was also Fast Sunday and we were fasting to have people at church and he shows up! Wow. God is good.  Also this Saturday the ZL`s and the hermanas had 2 baptisms each and we brought Adrian so he could see how the baptisms are. He's super excited.

We're working tons with Less Actives and Members so the work can accelerate much faster. The members are super excited to help us out! Other than that, this week was super hot and rainy as well and when it storms here..wow it's so crazy. I slipped and fell in the mud when we were running in the rain carrying my packages and that was pretty fun. We had Zone Conference and Presidente Vàsquez came and spoke with us. He talked about the Holy Ghost and that was awesome. He's so awesome. I love him and Hermana Vàsquez so much. This Wednesday we'll see changes and every companionship in the Zone has changes except for us. I will be staying in La Uniòn to finish the training of Elder Arirama which is very exciting. This change will be awesome. We're all good here and sounds like so are you all!

Thank you Grandma Barbara and Grandma Val for the packages!! Although the talk Grandma Val sent me is in French... I can understand very little of it...like 1% but hey, it's the thought that counts (; I love you all and I hope you all have a fantastic week!

July 4th, 2016 - Weekly Letter

July 4th, 2016 – Weekly Letter

Happy American Day!!!

Greetings from El Salvador on this very fine American Holiday. My first 4th of July away from home! I can't lie, the holidays are hard, but hey, I'm enjoying the work here (:

This week we worked our butts off. We visited every member and member family that we know, that live in our area and we are trying to help them to understand the importance of member missionary work. We had 2 less-actives in church which is awesome and also 2 members brought people to church (from our area) which means we have new investigators that also have member friends. This week was good. We put a lot of baptismal dates and now we just have to keep them and secure them.

Fasting in the mission is almost death. 24 hours without food or water, walking miles and hours under the sun when it's about 110...wow I know that the Lord helps us. We fasted and the Lord provided and gave us what we fasted for. We also did interchanges and I went with Elder Goodman. That kid is really weird, but he's flipping hilarious and we made plans to hang out after the mission! We had some funny experiences...first off a girl about 11 years old or so was riding her bike down the street and turned and ran straight into the curb and wrecked pretty good. We laughed pretty hard…it was pretty ridiculous. The other thing was, we had a lesson with one of his recent converts and her mom was there. The mom has about 60 years or so and we were singing the hymn God Speed the Right. In Spanish the phrase is Dios da valor and in the middle of singing she blurts out 'like our Savior Jesus Christ!!!!' and Elder Goodman and I laughed soooooooooo hard. I was crying and I felt so bad laughing but it was so hilarious. Wow. We're doing better! Changes are already next week. Wow. The time in the mission flyyyyys. The Gospel is sooo awesome people!! It changes lives. Do not sit back and not share it. It's too valuable and you lose what you don't share. Share your testimony with others because you just don't know who's already been prepared by God. Also the hermanas had 2 more baptisms this week. They're killing it! But they’re also kind of brats hahaha. Anyways, we are working on our charity (; All is good here living the tired life of a new missionary training a newer missionary.  I hope you all have a fantastic week and enjoy this fine American Holiday. I love you all and let us all press on in the work of the Lord!
